*flops* I give up. I don't understand. Last year, with a bag of candy, I had most of it left. I got maybe 10 kids. This year? Mobbed. Two (small, but two) bags of candy. Gone. I had to turn the lights off and retreat.

I'm not sorry I didn't have enough to keep it up, entirely. There's a limit to how many kids I can handle in one night and I'm well past mine. One was trying to grab more candy out of the dish while I gave pieces to the others with him; another demanded chocolate (which I hadn't gotten any of, sorry buddy). Others were shy, or just obnoxious; one liked to swing his sword at you while asking for candy.

Cutest, hands-down, was a pair of youngish (3 and 5, maybe?) kids dressed up as ducklings, all over white down. Their mother was leading them, with just a bit of feathers to go with her comment of being 'Mama Duck'.

I wonder why we were so busy alla sudden compared to previous years. May need to stock more against such moments.

We had the same problem: tons of kiddos last year, not so many this evening. There was a little girl dressed up as a red dragon who was very cute, and a 14-year-old boy dressed up as Marilyn Manson...and a Red Sox fan. But, aside from them, not too many showed up.

The mama and her ducklings do sound adorable, though!

Isn't there a Claratin-equivalent for that? :-)

We had the opposite problem this year... gigantic bowl of candy, maybe 10 children. Ah, well. More for us. And it's *all* chocolate. :)

I have to say the best part was the talking skeleton prop I had outside the door. One child lectured me about how scary it was until I distracted her with the candy bowl. Heh.
