...but it worked. Scott and I headed out to Costco, Target, and Albertson's this morning, just as soon as Costco was open. With the net result that it took us only about an hour and a half or so to run all the errands.

You may now call me insane, but we have an artificial Christmas tree. I love the real live things; but I don't care for the idea of chopping them down and killing them - celebrating the holidays by having a dead-thing in your house that if it dries out will be a fire hazard as well is not my idea of fun. And live trees in pots are only good if you have somewhere to plant them out, which we don't. Hence, the artificial tree. This is not a pre-lit or whatever, just an 8-foot artificial tree. I rather like it. Putting it together is a bitch, which means it is cheaper than the 'just unfold and set down' models. However, we have a nice big garage. I have every intent of storing it set up. :)

Scott's working on the initial setup. At some point, he'll stop and then I'll start up 'til I get bored. We've got ornaments and stuff, so, why not?

Other than that, picked up a comforter for the thingy with Christmas wishes from kids in need, and a whole bunch of groceries and household whatnot for us. Really, all of this would have taken nearly as long any day of the year, we did dodge the holiday insanity for the most part (except when were, you know, getting an artificial tree - but even there the only real insanity besides getting the tree was having to back out of an aisle because a woman had parked her cart across the end of it while she looked at something).

We did the real tree thing for several years, finally giving it up when we moved to the northwest and had to pay for the tree and the disposal once we killed it. (Alas, no luck at replanting) The artificial tree becomes a family project, lining up the branches in alphabetical order. There's no pine scent, but there's also no dropped needles or constant watering.... so it's not that bad.
