Woke up this morning to the sound of the wind rushing by our house. Strong strong winds this morning, not storm levels but quite quite fun. I've been enjoying.

Started to read Lackey's The Oustretched Shadow and got all of 100 pages or so in. I don't care. I just don't care. The only characters I care about, I don't believe will bein the story, they're just events. Even if I'm wrong, the main character doesn't interest me. The setting doesn't interest me. It may well get better - at page 100 it's still in the city - but being bored for 100 pages is enough for me. I started out reading. Then mostly reading. Then by there I was skimming. And I realized I don't even want to skim this book, I just want it to go away. :P So I'll be returning it to the library next time I go by there. This was something of a surprise to me - I've never seen a Lackey book (with or without a co-author) that I can recall that bored me. Some that made me snicker and recognize her theme, some that made me grump about continuity, some I adored, but...bored? Ack!

At any rate, easily returned and then can move on to the next book. Now to figure out which one to read next.

I agree that the book starts out very slow. After he is banned from the city, it gets better and I rather enjoyed it.

I guess you won't be wanting to borrow the sequel from me, huh? :-)
