But, it wasn't all bad. Just some of it. And some odd. Left the house at 3:45 to have Scott at the airport by 4:30 (for a 6 am flight).
We got three blocks from the house and had to slow down and wait...for a semi truck...doing a u-turn...at the corner of the Wilsonville Road and Boeckman, having apparently come from Stafford (Wilsonville Road on the other side of the intersection) and going back that way. I stayed well back of the intersection until he finished that, then took another route so I wasn't following him out Stafford. The big question was a) what was he doing THERE and b) why was he turning AROUND? It's true that Stafford will get you to I-205, but why would you get OFF I-205 and come down Stafford? And I think it unlikely he was going to/from a farm, especially at that hour. Scott finally came up with what may be the solution - he may have been going from 205 to I-5 or needed to go to Sherwood, and been using a GPS. It could have told him to get off at Stafford, cut down the (slightly twisty, but not too horrid) country road, and take 65th then Elligsen to the I-5 interchange (or vice versa). Not only would it be easy to miss the turn from Stafford to 65th but, in fact, I don't think a semi truck can MAKE that turn between the side of Stafford that heads toward 205 and 65th (which tees into it there) - the angle is acute, and 65th slopes down from Stafford. I think the poor guy would not be able to make that turn even without the slope. The other turn (between 65th and Stafford toward Wilsonville) MIGHT be doable, and of course if he started out on 205 he could just go straight through the intersection (well, okay, left, because Stafford is curving there). So that could be what happened. Otherwise...otherwise, I have no clue why he'd be making a u-turn there. :P A turn, sure. Going straight, sure (it's not a horrid route from 205 to Wilsonville, although at that hour of the morning staying on 205 to I-5 south is faster - in rush hour, it wouldn't be, though).
Then it was a clear drive most of the way - I was thrilled to see a bright, bright meteor. I wasn't LOOKING for meteors, I was driving! But I saw one partway up 205 anyway. I figured I'd spend time on the deck when I got home and watch for more. (This didn't happen, for various reasons. Perhaps tomorrow morning.)
There was something else really funny I meant to post about, but I've forgotten it since then.
Then I dropped Scott off at the airport, and headed back home. I was enjoying the drive (hey, I seldom get to see 205 that peaceful and clear) and was about 2/3 of the way home when my cell rang. It was Scott. He'd lost his driver's license, could I search the car? Aie! Pulled off at the next exit, searched the car, no luck. Called him back and told him and we agreed I'd head home and search for his license there. Apparently, he decided to be efficient and put it in his pocket (rather than leaving it in his wallet) before he left the house, so it could have fallen out at any point. He was still searching at the airport, but lost and found didn't open until 8. Oops.
Got home, found his wallet in the driveway right behind the trunk of the car. Retrieved, called him, started back. By then he'd talked to Continental and rebooked on a 10 am flight (since there was no prayer, once the license wasn't in the car or at the airport, of his making the flight - I would be lucky to get it back to him by 6 am, which was the original departure time). He'll get into Indy at almost 11 pm tonight, but he'll be there. His license has been restored to him, I have his new itinerary so I can track it nervously, and really, it could've been worse.
I'm glad, in a lot of ways, that I'm not going to GenCon. With all that needs doing around here, it's handy - and this morning's misadventure would have upset me a lot more if it had affected my travel also. Now to stay up just a little bit longer so I can call the City of Wilsonville. A few days ago, signs appeared that they'd be sealing our street. YESTERDAY signs and notices with the date arrived, which we got yesterday evening - and it is Thursday. No street parking after 8 am Thursday (don't care), no in or out by car from 9 am Thursday until the seal is dry (4-6 hours after it is placed). I want to get the exact schedule for the street so I can better estimate the impact on my Thursday...because that's the day of Babe's appointment. I'll have to leave about quarter to 9 for that anyway, and in theory I won't pick her up until afternoon, but - I need a firm idea of when I can get in. It's supposed to be 95 tomorrow, and what am I going to do, drive around with the cat in my car losing her mind and the AC on? Come ON. (I also need to call the vet, because emergency procedures can take over time and could prevent the biopsy being done that day, since it's not a critical procedure. I need to know that if I drop the cat off, they're keeping the cat. Otherwise, we have to move the appointment, because this is just not gonna work.)
Then, I go back to bed and nap, because hi, only six hours of sleep. I'd like a couple more. ;)
Hmm. I need a 'determined' or 'keeping on' or 'getting things done' type icon. *frownies* I don't have one I feel suits for a post like this.

I hope Babe does well, she's had a more interesting life than she should have and it would be nice to think she can settle down to normality again.
95 is uncivilized.

I went out to look for meteors this morning since I was up anyway. I saw none. The sky was already getting bright so I guess I was a bit too late.
Good luck with Babe tomorrow! I will be thinking about you.
