Baby wish list posted.

Finally, we have a wish list up. It's not complete, in that I expect to add items over time (there are a few things I know I will want/need, but I want to be particular about and don't know enough yet). Doesn't matter, because it's mostly there to give ideas to people who want to give stuff. THIS IS NOT A PLEA FOR GIFTS. This is an offering of "things what would be nice to have if you want to give a gift." Please don't feel obligated.

The wish list is at TheThingsIWant.com, which lets you wishlist items from multiple sites or with no site at all, but has a bad feature as far as description - it's limited to 250 characters. We ALL know I'm too talky to fit in 250 characters, so I put up a backdated post with notes. Please have a look at it.

For relatives, note that the post also includes a separate gift request that I would really, really, REALLY appreciate even if it's all you send. :) Thanks!

*grins* Yes. I know that, for the most part, I shouldn't worry about the early baby clothes - I'll be cycling through them too, too fast. But that one was so cute. I love it.

*grins* Definitely a gamer shirt - that one was Scott's find. I like it a lot too. (But I'm not sure, if the finds had been reversed, if he'd've dared add the one I did. Some things are safer said by the parent being picked on. *grins*)

Looking through your list, I would recommend asking for LOTS of blankets, even though you're not planning to use them in the crib. They are incredibly useful in swings, bouncers, and the car, and you can never have too many. I'm planning to get you something you don't have on the list, and that I never thought of until I ran across it after I had Leo (October baby). In my mind, it's crucial for a winter baby, especially in colder climates. And if you end up with several, they're interchangeable and you won't get upset if one is dirty when you need it.

Well, almost everyone who mentioned blankets in the request for help with the wish list last month mentioned them in conjunction with the crib, and I don't have a feel for what number to put on "lots". I can always get more if I need them.

As far as whatever you're getting, as I said, the list is just there for people who need ideas. Though bear in mind, winter here is not a "colder clime". We're in spring by early to mid-March.

I needed it here -- and I expect that my cold weather is milder than yours, just for the sheer fact that you are farther North than I am. Granted, an October baby has a need for cold stuff longer than a January baby does, but...

Oh, and I used rolled-up blankets for everything from sleep positioners to head supports to car seat supports (under the base to keep the carrier or rear-facing convertible seat level).

Amusingly, checking the averages, maybe not. Your average low is lower than ours in November through March. (In NO month is our average low below freezing, though obviously some days are.) And in October and April you're only 1-2 degrees above us in averages.

Of course, our average highs are mostly lower than your average highs, even in those months. (Records, we blow you away in December for record low but otherwise you're lower than us through the winter.)

But it is in summer that you're really warmer than us.

Yup, humidity does that. We tend toward the extremes; you stay in a smaller range any given day.

Yep. Cloud cover is a lovely thing, as is general humidity, as is the relative protection of the Willamette Valley (the Columbia Gorge, although also humid, gets much colder due to channelling east winds; the high desert east of the Cascades, having the double whammy of the elevation and the rain shield, also gets pretty dramatic - they have six months where the average low is at or below freezing in John Day, for example :).
