First, key note: if you want to gift, this info is here. PLEASE don't feel obligated. The boys do not need anything, though there's plenty they want, and more they'd like, I'm sure.
That said, they have wish lists, and then I have some additional notes on things they like and don't like along with those.
Ian
Wish list: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3QEYJ010NK864/ref=topnav_lists_4?sort=priority&itemPerPage=25
Notes: As of September 20, 2013, Ian is a 2T in size. However, he can wear 3T shirts, they're just a little large. I'm not sure when he's going to size up into 3T properly, so clothing (especially pants) is a bit risky. He has a lot of hand-me-downs waiting for him to get bigger anyway.
He is starting to ask for books, and he seems to actually like books that have to be read to him and have a bit of a story (rather than board books or lift-the-flap) right now.
He is my little take-it-apart handy man. (This year, he has taken a knob off a kitchen cabinet. Attempted to take the doorknob off my pantry, an effort fortunately stymied by his 'screwdriver' being a pen from a magnetic drawing board, although his technique wasn't bad.) He likes things that open and close, lids that come off, things to sort, but most of all things that come apart and go back together and *do something*.
That said, he has a basic "kid workbench" with kid tools coming from his parents. (Play tools: two screw drivers, two wrenches, a hammer, a drill, a grinder, two hand-saws, a circular saw, a level, a tape measure, a couple pairs of pliers, safety goggles...it's an amazing set. No clamps, but. I'm not sure I want to know what he could do with even play clamps.) And he's only going to be two, so we have to be a little careful with things with too-small parts. But if you want to send him something like gear toys, or a tool I haven't listed, or something that can be deconstructed...well, he'd be a happy little camper, I think.
He also loves his outdoor time, slides, and going for walks if that gives you any ideas.
Drew
Wish list: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2Z4RBG4RR1F0R/ref=cm_sw_su_w?sort=priority&itemPerPage=25
Notes: As of September 20, 2013, Drew is approximately a size 6. Size 7 shirt work, size 7+ pants not so much (but 6-7 fit okay). He has plenty of fitting pants right now. If you do get clothes, he is very fond of soft clothes (very soft fabrics, sweat pants, etc.).
Drew loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and also loves dinosaurs. Most of his wish list is based on his input, so it's probably a better guide to his general whims than anything I could say. He is starting to enjoy books with fewer pictures (still pictures each page however) and more words.
