Day started poorly. Page from CS - client whose database connection was down, and no, it was not the usual obvious "programs that connect system to database are off/can't reach system" (usually, either someone's shut them down, or the network has burped and knocked 'em loose). No, this time the database was really down. Our database specialist looked, and said the data files were actually missing.

Ummm. NOT happy. So we tell client. And, hours'n'hours later, database specialist calls me back. Got ahold of someone who knows more. He was looking in the wrong directory and didn't do any of the right stuff. All it was, was the database was in backup mode, so they kicked it out of backup mode, everything worked fine. *le sigh* I may have to learn DBA in addition to my other skills, in self-defense!! :)

I've scened Alariel. Three times...well, okay, I'm in the middle of the third.

I might even take Zulaikh out later this afternoon again, we'll see. Or poor Jemmael, who has been the neglected one of late, LOL.

Weekends are good. Today is going pretty well, especially now that the client's problem is fixed.

My new hobby: listing the good things about a day. We'll see how long this ritual lasts; I'm notoriously lazy.

The "database corruption" problem wasn't, and got fixed, no data lost, no harm done.

I scened Alariel, three separate scenes, all varying degrees of story.

Got to talk to several friends.

Watching Pay It Forward. (Not all the way through; I keep pausing. It's pretty intense, but I like it in staggered doses.)

Blueberry muffins. Nummy. (Yes, I baked, but from a box.)

Saw my dad; got the new Enterprise tape (ah, but I may watch it tonight on rerun, I think I can remember that long). Gave him the new Mercedes Lackey.

They don't offer a mood "hysterical laughter" which is really a pity. A MASSIVE pity.

I have a credit card. I was paying my bills tonight; it had a bill. Pity, but there it is. And the bills, no, it's not enough they ask for your money, they include offers for things you can buy (on your card, of course).

"As a member, you are entitled to (insert generally cheap, crappy merchandise, and regardless, always an item you don't actually need) for (insert low 'nominal' fee which is still exactly its own amount too much for the item)."

This month, the main items were "ivory fine china animal sculptures by Lenox" for $4.95 (the "sculptures" being 2-4 inches high and pretty boring and bland).

But one of them was an elephant.

Yes, they are now trying to sell me a literal white elephant...!
