Sometimes, someone finds one that's funny. Today's so far have included one that was blah (the 'announcement' of a new edition of GURPS, based off miniatures, which could have inspired panic if it weren't too absurd to be believed for an instant), and one that's actively irksome.

No, actually, folks, it's not funny. I admit, it is also too absurd to be believed; but it's not funny. It means a day in which I won't see posts from some of my friends, and a massive Drama that I would have thought that you, of all people, were smart enough to see the potential damage from.

Oh, well. In the end, it's not doing me any particular harm, either. But it's not funny, and it's not really very wise, either. Me?

I'm going to spend today getting things done, as always. I'm a spoilsport on April Fool's day anyway; I've never liked the matter of pranks and misleadingness.

Went out in the rain and dug in the back yard. Less than an hour - the sun kept going down and with the rainclouds, it was dark before full dark. I got slightly damp (not a heavy rain) and muddy (shoveling mud about will do that, especially if you slip and go to one knee in it).

That's what pants you can get dirty are for, though. I finished about half the remaining area between the end of the deck and the end of the house; I'll probably have that whole section dug and planted by the end of Friday, assuming the weather doesn't turn truly frightful.

Honestly, it was wonderful out there. A bit on the cool side - two or three degrees more might have been nice - but not painfully so, at least not while shoving mud around, which does tend to warm you up. Slightly soggy, but very pretty, and such a nice feeling to get something done.

Bookcase bought for right side of closet will not fit in space. Once again, I managed to mis-write or mis-take or something my measurements somehow. However, I'm not really too unhappy, as:

1. The bookcase in question fits just fine under the window and will look okay with something decorative atop it (it's a touch short), or even a row of paperbacks with bookends on them (except that with us, it would be a matter of time before that all came tumbling down, I'm sure).

2. It also fits just fine in the left side of the closet, except it's not tall enough. However, the 48" tall one I didn't get as my car couldn't haul it is tall enough, and being from the same manufacturer and same line, is the same width. As that section is 60" tall to the first barrier, and matches my height nicely, making it easy to judge, I'm quite sure that the other bookcase will fit there also and be highly useful.

So there only remains to re-measure that area on the right side, and dig up something that will work there, a matter that's of less critical interest now that we have the window shelves and I know the 48-incher will work in the left side (with a bit of room left over, but that's life).

On the whole, I'm not too displeased. I even got the backing on by myself (since the short one is small enough that I can actually reach).
