The day, and me, respectively. I knew it would be, of course; the weather forecasters said so. They're never wrong when I dread it, unless it's for things to be worse. High hit the mid or high nineties. I was trying not to notice the distance. Pant pant pant. Got off work at about 4, went out to the car, turned it on, turned on the AC. Waited for the AC to ramp up to where it was pushing cool air. Extracted sunglasses, which are kept in car as otherwise I lose them. Held in front of the AC until they were cool enough that I could bear to put them on. Drove home. Nearly died when I got out of the car into the punishing heat. Fled upstairs and turned the AC on.

I only just remembered that, when I got home, I got the mail. I've had it in the bag I jammed it in to carry in. Good thing I typed up this whine or I'd have found it in a day or two - at least I use the bag every day! Sheesh.

Work was good. Things have been hectic and disorganized this week and, today, they were finally less-so. A lot more feeling of things going the way they're planned, and of finishing things, instead of being yanked from half-complete to quarter-complete to quarter-complete to incomplete item and back.

The AC has only gotten the room down to 85. I'm hot. I'm miserable. Standing in front of it only helps until I move.

Tomorrow it is supposed to hit 100. And I'm on-call. I may find someplace to be that's near home, but better air-conditioned, all the same. A long stint shopping at Fry's, perhaps, or a movie - though I hate getting called out of those. We have no indoor malls close by, which rules out going somewhere, sitting down, and writing. Unless I go out for a loooooong slow dinner and write there. They don't mind that too much if they're not busy and you buy something and all, but on a Friday night with the temps being sucky, I'm suspecting most of the restaurants will be busy.

Oh, well. I'll find some answer. We don't often hit 100, but it has happened, and I didn't die then, I just wanted to. This one will likely be similar but I am hoping to reduce the "wanting to die" aspect of it.

I hate heat. Somehow, I think I'd do really pathetically in many, many parts of this country....

I love my local library, I do I do. I have Master and Commander and Big Fish out right now. Have not yet watched either, but will. I have much more hope of enjoying the first than the second, because the first is more the sort of thing I usually enjoy, but I'm curious about the other, so we'll see.

Brother Bear is waiting for me now (just got in today). I will not pick it up until Monday, most likely. There's a limit to how many videos I need at once and, once you pick them up, it's seven days. Plus, I have holds on several books on journalling and altered book art that will be in by then but aren't yet. I do not think I will spend very long on them, but I'm curious. If I am as interested as I expect to be, I will be able to return them and Brother Bear at the same time, but you never know. I also have a hold on the Firefly DVD so I can see the series, which I've never seen any of. This, however, is not gonna come in any time soon. They have precisely one copy. I am the 11th hold in line. Even at one week per and assuming people pick it up the day it comes in (dangerous assumption, that), it'll be a while. Some will return it early, of course, but...on balance? I'd say it's 2-4 months 'til I get to see that.

I love my local library. And, really, a lot of publishers should love them too, because after I try stuff out there, I may go buy it. I have enough books and whatnot that I really do not need more. You have to convince me, now. And the easiest way to do that is for me to pick up a copy at my local library and realize I will want to reread or reference it.

From Saturday, anyway. They're up at Buzznet or can be seen in the [livejournal.com profile] bn_kyrielle feed also. The most recently-posted includes some textual notes on the gardens.

I'll have to find photos of other things to post, now, I guess. Amusingly, today they posted for the beta of the LJ photo-hosting service (permanent members and early-adopter accounts that are in 'paid' status only). See the posts in [livejournal.com profile] paidmembers or [livejournal.com profile] lj_biz, if you're curious.
