After I scanned the first package of photos (I still haven't scanned any more, though I went through a chunk of the stack with Dad that one weekend, just reminiscing) when I found my old photos, Dad said this photo was one of his favorites of me. It's on a trip we took to Eastern Oregon, arranged through OMSI, for a rock hound weekend. We stayed in an A-frame, we dug up thunder-eggs and other rocks, we learned to cut (well, he did - I was too young and wasn't allowed to use the saw) and polish them. I still have a bucket of un-cut thunder-eggs from this trip, as I ended up with way more than I needed. Perhaps I should get them cracked or cut. There were hikes up into the hills. I think I may have gone on just one, but I'm not even sure of that - they were so long and seemed tiring, I don't know if I went at all.

I think I must have been ten or twelve or so? But I'm only guessing. Before that I think my hair was shorter.

Anyway, here is the photo he liked so: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kyrielle/275847159/

Well, not really. But she did get popped in a carrier and hauled to the vet today. I noticed that she was moving a bit stiffly, which means it's time for the every-three-weeks-or-so injection she gets for her arthritis. Only, I've never given it nor seen it given. Dad gave them to her, of course, but while I could ask his advice, I don't think I'd hear the reply. An over-the-phone description of how to find the muscle was not inspiring. At all. So I took her and the injection into the vet and they walked me through it. Not hard; now that I know where I'm looking for the muscle, I'll be fine. And Basta was really quite patient with the whole thing (then again, she got a lot of petting to keep her settled, and she was most appreciative of that, I think). She also wasn't ill in the carrier, which she usually is - Basta and cars don't get along - so I'll take small victories. I'm hoping that will be the case most times she has to go in, because the drive is fairly short.

Today's photo is of Babe and Basta, eating in our kitchen. I'm trying to get one of them curled up in their cupboard in the bathroom, but it's lousy lighting conditions. :P

Of course, my memories are so focused around me and how I interacted with my parents, rather than other facets - still, they're what I have.

A miscellany of memories, all sorts of things. )

And it's after 10 and I'm sleepy, so I think I'll wrap this up here for now.
