I have a page-a-day calendar I got for myself of "anguished English". I haven't been reading it every day, I've been too distracted. So today I am catching up for three or four days. I really like Thursday's:

"These warheads must be stored with the top at the bottom and the bottom at the top. In order that there may be no doubt as to which is the top and which is the bottom, for storage purposes the bottom of each head has been labeled with the word TOP."

Or Friday's gem, from a newspaper correction, which is less 'anguished English' (the words are fine and were fine), and more 'omigod you screwed WHAT up?': "Unfortunately, the illustrations of edible and poisonous types of mushrooms were reversed on page 14 of our Sunday edition."

This morning, sent a bunch of mail and after that stopped to get more stuff for the cats (mostly food in smaller cans so I can vary what they get more, and because they're fussy about temperature and I can't seem to get it 'just right' in the Microwave). Picked up more cat food for the feral cats (they had plenty in the bowls but the garbage can that holds food for dispensing was empty when I accomplished that) as well. And ink for my printer since the warnings have started popping up.

Stopped by the game shop that has a midnight opening on the 16th to release Burning Crusade, and reserved two copies of same (which they would not do over the phone). It's just up in Argyle Square at the North Wilsonville exit (...that property used to be a truck stop, now it's an expensive suburban mall-thing, go figure). So not far at all. I figure it will probably want to download stuff, and it can do that overnight while I'm sleeping, thankyouverymuch. I wasn't going to reserve, but the idea of getting it in time to play on my birthday was shiny and so I called to see if they were really open (always wise to be sure) and got a yes, but you want to reserve or you won't get one. So I did. Yay, gamer crack!

Then went over to visit Uncle Jim and Aunt Betty. It was a lovely, lovely visit - spent a good part of the afternoon there. I hope we didn't stay too long or leave too early - I'm never sure on things like that - but it was getting late and it was dark out, and dinnertime, and that seemed like a good time to head home. Hopefully we will visit a bit more regularly than in the past (I don't think I've seen them more than once in the last decade or so, and that's insane since they just live up the freeway from us a tiny ways - arrrgh!). We have all been - myself very much included - not as good at connecting as I could wish and I am so glad to visit with them and meet their cats and so on. (Lovely cats. Very shy of us for the most part, but lovely cats.)

A rock hit the windshield on the way up, and put a nice round spot in it, so I'll have to do something about that in the next couple days.

Scott heated the frozen lasagna when we got home (yay, and also yum!). The mail today brought the mini-cards I had ordered - photos (taken from my Flickr account) printed on one side, the other side with my name, address, etc. - like a photographic calling card. Thinner than a standard business card. Very pretty.

Here is today's 1-a-day photo - the sunrise this morning. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kyrielle/356488950/

Here are two photos showing most (not all) of the mini-cards I got - well, I got 100, but a lot are the same image again. :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/kyrielle/356485870/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/kyrielle/356485867/

And here's the photo showing the ones I might order again (if I ever run through the first hundred or so) as I really liked how they turned out. And a link to the set showing the original photos for those cards. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kyrielle/356485871/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/kyrielle/sets/72157594460195248/
