Go to Google Maps.

Select the 'Get directions' link.

Put a starting point of LAX and an ending point of Paris, France, and submit.

Read Step 38 of the directions closely.

I realize that no one expects mapping software to give good directions from LA to France, at least I hope they don't, but step 38 is particularly amusing.

1. What web browser do you use?

Internet Explorer 7.

2. What email client do you use?

Eudora at home; Outlook at work.

3. What type of Internet connection do you have at home?

DSL.

4. What kinda of computer do you have?

My laptop is a Toshiba; it's nice, but you wouldn't want to run expensive graphical games on it. My desktop is a Dell, and it runs World of Warcraft quite nicely. In spite of the fact that I use the built-in video, rather than having a separate card.

5. When did you first get 'online'?

Oh, wow. I was on the usenet newsgroups...hmmm. Probably by 1989 at least, maybe earlier? (Dad let me use an account through his workplace.) And at some point in there I got on CompuServe, but I was on the other first (since it didn't cost money). 300 baud modems! I could out-type the connection (and sometimes did...).

Honestly, this seems insane to me, but I'm really not qualified to comment on it; perhaps there was some policy, perhaps there was some other reason the article doesn't mention. But I feel bad for the girl, because no matter what, I think that getting removed from the plane when you were going home from Spring Break would be pretty unpleasant and, at that age, even scary for some folks.

Well, the FDA looked at it and DID NOT find rat poison. They could not confirm that it was there. They did find another chemical, though.

News article here.

A dry food has been added to the recall, Hill's Pet Nutrition's Prescription Diet m/d Feline. It has the same wheat gluten as the earlier-recalled wet foods. It's not clear (judging from the news articles) whether the contaminant confirmed to be in the gluten could've caused the issue, or what. As far as I can tell from the news stories, almost all is confusion. :P
