I'm awake, at least. Things to do today: go to the farmer's market in Canby and see how good it is. I didn't know it existed. I'd say it's a lot closer than the alternatives, but really it's only slightly closer. It is, however, open Saturday mornings, which they aren't; they're on Sunday. So.

I've started cooking more, mostly using the crockpot. Some things turn out; some really don't. Meanwhile, I need another crockpot. No, seriously, you can laugh. I have two, but one is bigger - I think I may need to get rid of it, it's too big for anything we do, or anything I plan to do, with a crock. I need a second one that's the same size as the one I'm using so much now. And some of the newer ones have a "keep warm" feature I'd like to have, when you don't want it to keep cooking but you do want it to stay warm 'til you get home from work. I'd like one of those.

Meanwhile, I add a paper dragon hatchling from the Dragon Cave, because it needs to be seen in order to help it grow up. You may not see it, 'cause the images are loading only when they feel like it, which is why it's in difficulty. :P
Adopt one today!

Not sure if I like the Canby farmer's market or not. Parking was miserable, but there was a car show going on at the same time, which confounds things horribly. It's tiny - less than 20 stalls - but the selection in those stalls was pretty darned good. For less than $25, I came home with three pints of blueberries (last of the season, small and sweet), a pint of cherry tomatoes, a pound and a half of green beans, three large red potatoes, two large green peppers, two medium zucchini, a small head of cauliflower (they had larger; that's al the cauliflower I wanted), three lemon cucumbers, and an eggplant. (Some were impulse buys, some are for one or another recipe.)

There were lots of other options that I left behind, too.

But...if I have to park that far away every time? It may not be worth it. I may try the Oregon City farmer's market also - it's also today (not tomorrow as I'd remembered). If it's grown since early spring (which seems probable), it's likely a better choice. And I still need a couple things and wouldn't mind some more impulse shopping. That's...several miles the wrong direction for my other main errand (going to my parents' house to check on things) today, though. Sigh. I may do it anyway. The information will be useful in the future. It's about as far away as Canby, in a slightly different direction.

Also? Note to my GPS device: the Canby Ferry is NOT as good a route as the interstate, since (unlike, say, a bridge) it is not always instantly available when you want it. No, I am NOT going to take the Ferry instead of going one mile on the interstate. Next!

*sigh* Yeah, I think I go to Oregon City. Which means I need to empty the bags so I have them available again, though I'll likely only need 1-2. Good. I can leave the beans in their bag!

*thud* I didn't go to the OC farmer's market. I realized, if I did, we'd end up with more fruits & veggies than I actually wanted. Instead, I'll check it out next weekend.

I also failed to get a crock pot. Apparently, what I want doesn't exist (based on internet searching) in the size I want it in, but frankly the selection the couple places I went stank. I may have to order online. I've ordered a smaller crockpot (smaller than the one I have now) without those features from that stupid work gift I got that couldn't get me anything useful to me at the time. It's free, so the worst it can be is a loss; with luck it'll be useful for things like the cobbler (which can be made in the larger crock, but doesn't need to be). Looks like the smallest programmable one you can get is four quarts, I want 2.5-3. Sigh. Oh well. There's a neat-looking one that comes with three crocks (2, 4, and 6 quarts) but it's not really programmable. It has a 'keep warm' heat setting but not the ability to drop into it after cooking, as far as the writeups show. Pity! I'll see how the free one does and decide later if I need to replace it with something more like the one I currently have (definitely can find that, at least).

They are doing quite a bit of roadwork around the end of the Wilsonville Road in Newberg, rerouting what had been a hideous intersection into something sane-ish. Actually they've done that bit and are doing all the after-work and such now. There's one of those electronic billboard thingies up saying "traffic control change ahead" (if I remember right what it said on the first screen, anyway) and apparently someone got them to add a second message on the second screen, to benefit a local business (which has gotten HOSED as far as their driveway during most of the construction, I must admit). The board therefore reads, alternating, "traffic control change ahead / bento access ahead."

I wanted to get a photo but I was too busy driving. :P
