Sometimes our kids know themselves so well.

Drew fell off a chair. Scraped, bruised, scared. Howling in my arms. We asked if he needed/wanted ice, hugs, kisses, etc. He replied "I need to cry." So we held him and he did, then drank some ice water and was content.
