It used to be only in regard to smoking that one said "Reading the reports on the dangers of smoking is upsetting, so I have decided to quit reading." Now it seems to be all over the place.

So many of these "studies" are extremely poorly done and fed to the press with predetermined agendas in mind. And then turn out to be wrong, which doesn't get reported.

Yep. Plus, really, so far they have proved that everything edible is bad for you.

I contend that starving is worse.

Unfortunately, it doesn't make the hue-and-cry of the moment any less disturbing to read at first. I wish that they would spend half their research effort figuring out how to fix any of the things they've identified, if they happen to be true.
