All morning. They're working on it now, at least, now that they're convinced it really is the building A/C and not, say, the thermostats, our imaginations, etc.

This resulted in my sending an email explaining that the standalone A/C in the lab had been turned to a heat setting, to melt the ice, which it acquired while trying to keep the lab cool enough without help. As a consequence, all unnecessary computers, the color copier/printer, and all monitors are off in the lab in an effort to keep it bearable. The good news is that the standalone A/C is not heating the lab up much....

...because it's heating the 3-inch ice pack on top of its grill, instead. *sigh* I love how it ices up when it gets too cold, really I do.

Meanwhile, I'm actually starting to be hungry despite the heat. I don't think I can bear to eat the sliced pork roast cold, and hot would be a bit much yet, though. Bother.

I am mostly amused. I got to defrost the ice pack on the A/C. Again. That's either absurd and annoying, or it's funny; and frankly, I'd rather laugh, it's more fun.

Way back when, we occasionally lost the air conditioning --- a substantial multi-ton unit --- for the computer room and the facilities folks would put fans in the had-to-be-held-open doors of the room to push the heat out into the surrounding office space. Which led to that triggering additional cooling needs there and sometimes overloading that system so it shut down, too.

Ah, memories. [The computer room was called the VAX Room which ought to tell you something about the age of this story.]
