Dad came by today and helped me attach the one bookcase I had set up to the wall. He drove us up to Home Depot and there are three more in the garage now waiting to be assembled. We will have these shelves for the library! I'm not going to set up another bookcase before I leave, but I might take two of the moveable shelves from one and put them on the one that's set up.

I've ordered 4 sets (of two each) of additional shelves in the same color. I really like these cases but we're not putting oversized books on every shelf, a lot will be only paperbacks, so they can hold more this way.

I'm working on getting laundry done now, so that I can pack a fair bit tonight. Less to do tomorrow.

I got to roleplay today. I was expecting to get to scene for a bit longer than I did, but an unexpected ic situation put me on pause. It's going to be fun in the long run, I suspect, but I admit I was a bit sulky that it ended up curtailing my fun when it first popped up. I did want to keep roleplaying with the person in question! On the other hand, it was a lovely scene that lasted for quite a while already, and I met someone I hadn't roleplayed with before. I very much enjoyed the scene, and the style of the player who was new to me.

I also found one of the ear cuffs I made back when. This one is from what was meant to be a button or clasp; it's a silver bell cup with several small chains (also silver) hanging down an inch and a half or so. I just hooked it to an ear cuff and I really do like the effect. Besides, it jingles next to my ear.

I've read more books - I finished Stars Over Stars and quite loved it. Also finished reading another work-inspirational book, which failed to inspire me. I think because it is so overdone and self-evident, plus, the actual content could be summarized in a single 8x10 page if well-phrased. Fortunately, it's a library book. I'll send it back to annoy someone else....

Ironically, of all my library books, the one I haven't started yet is the one that's due the soonest. That's not true; I read the first chapter, then paused. But still. The others are all read. Of course, this isn't due until after my trip, but I still find it amusing that I've not finished yet. That's The Memory Bible by Gary Small. I have no idea what I will think of it since I'm not so far in yet, so we'll see.

When I get back from this trip, I have a few books I haven't read yet that I own. Failing that, I'll need to get some more from the library. I only have one hold out, but that's on Lackey's Joust and as I'm number 7 of 13 holds, I think it will be a while before I get it. They have several copies, but not that many....

What's an "ic situation"?
Maybe it's because I'm rather new to this stuff, but I haven't heard that term before.

Er, now I'm not sure you were talking about the same kind of "role playing" I thought you were... :)

I desperately need more shelves. I'm tempted to ask where you got yours, except it sounds like they're meant to be permanent shelving, which is something I can't do in an apartment, alas.

Also, on the topic of books, don't forget to have your list clear for The Wreck of Heaven (the sequel to Memory of Fire). Still slated for April!

Holly's also finished Gods Old and Dark, the last book in the series. IIRC, it's in the editor's hands now, so hopefully it'll see an early 2004 release. I'm looking forward to both, can you tell?

(She's got another one she just finished up that I've seen the rough of the first chapter for which I'm also looking forward to, Midnight Rain -- from what I saw of it, it appears to be in the same sort of style Memory of Fire is, but no idea how long til that one comes out, alas.)
