I dreamed last night and it was, oddly, somewhat character-related - but not really. I feel sort of icky this morning (no connection, and also not similar to what a certain east-coast team member had when he showed up to the client site, so I still think I escaped getting that).

Other than that, I saw an email on a mailing list where someone had a door that was locked to the owner, strong people who could kick it in, and so on, and they wanted to know if they could customize the success messages for those various cases. If the lock works, they sure can, but my first thought it

Clever fucks with code drive me more nuts than anything. Locked doors never take into account all conditions when they are code-locked. Learn to roleplay. Learn to trust people, who in turn should learn not to go through code-unlocked doors unless they really can go in the door.

But I doubt his lock takes into account (a) the strong man kicking the door in and destroying it so that anyone else can get in, (b) the lockpick leaving the door open on their way out, etc.

I really doubt it. :P

See, in that case, we'd very reasonably say "You can get in, but please let [owner] or [possibly admin] know what you do next, just in case there's stuff that they'd otherwise know about." Getting in, no big deal. Potentially (at least depending on the house) more of an issue thereafter.

Though it does occur to me that most of my characters have ..erm, odd housing situations, now I think about it.
