And I have no intention of so much as collecting my library books. First, one of the front tires each from Scott's car and mine,
iced over:

Then we have the back window of my car (note the complete coating on, well, everything):

And then there's the example of ice build-up on the plants:

But I'm one of those insane Minnesotans, who expect such things. And of course, we have plows and salting and all sorts of other things to help which have been worked out with the intricacy of any fine art.
How thick is the ice coating right now?

I could have dealt with clearing the ice off the car, were it not for the tires.
I'm not sure how thick it is now that I've read your message, it's dark and I'm not going to test. Probably as thick or thicker, however - it did warm enough to thaw where the sun hit, and is now back below freezing.

There are also reasons I love my Saturn - fiberglass body panels are a good thing in snowy areas.
They are, apparently, shifting over to something other than salt mostly, now - I think it's a molasses based mixture. Easier on the soil, easier on the cars, and if they can get it down in the right conditions, they don't need to salt.
The tires would probably have gotten me too, I admit. (And besides, even if you can get out of the driveway, it really isn't much fun to drive in that kind of conditions.)

Until I saw the tires. What's hard to see in the photos is that the tread areas were iced enough to be smooth to the touch - the tread was filled in, at least on the top.
I'd say I was not impressed, but actually I was. I just wasn't pleased. :)
