There are also reasons I love my Saturn - fiberglass body panels are a good thing in snowy areas.
They are, apparently, shifting over to something other than salt mostly, now - I think it's a molasses based mixture. Easier on the soil, easier on the cars, and if they can get it down in the right conditions, they don't need to salt.
The tires would probably have gotten me too, I admit. (And besides, even if you can get out of the driveway, it really isn't much fun to drive in that kind of conditions.)

Until I saw the tires. What's hard to see in the photos is that the tread areas were iced enough to be smooth to the touch - the tread was filled in, at least on the top.
I'd say I was not impressed, but actually I was. I just wasn't pleased. :)
