Okay, why is it nice to send your friends a chain email that says if they delete it (or don't send it on) it will give them a year of bad luck? It is either absurd, or nasty, depending on whether you believe that stuff. It is sure not very friendly, even if sending it on includes good luck, to send someone something that under any circumstances wishes them bad luck.

I can't stand chain letters like that, though at least these days few people send them on, most delete them or just read and file them, I guess. I used to get more. Perhaps people have (mostly) realized I don't care for them. This is not to say I don't share the occasional one if it is funny enough, but, VERY seldom.

But the ones that have any negative "consequence" stated for not sending them on are just rude to send, IMO.

I went to the state fair today, because I could. I even went on a ride. I'd have gone on more, but the selection sucked from my perspective. Apparently putting you way up in the air (often upside-down) is even more popular now than last time I went to stuff like this. Oh well!

I had more fun wandering the booths, the artisan's alley, the various other stuff being shown off.

However, my favorite moment, bar none, came in the commercial vendors hall (which I almost didn't go into, 'cause there's much more interesting things at the fair; but I had plenty of time so why not? I'm so glad I went in, just for this moment).

I was passing a booth that was selling little shower-sized plug-in saunas. And an older gentleman was just walking away from it, shaking his head and saying to his companion something on the close order of, "Those things are hot! Why would they do that? It's August!"

It is August. I wouldn't've stepped into a demo sauna in August, even if I were interested in one at all, most likely. But ... what did he expect? *boggles*
