Courtesy of kfrye, a link to a video on the KGW (local news station) web site showing cars trying to drive on a steep hill during the storm. Trying being the operative word....

Attempting to drive that stretch of road: not real bright. Attempting it after the evidence of the first guys to do so was present: really not bright. The people standing around outside as it all happens: *whimper*.

I stay home when it's like this. First, I'm not that great at driving in messy weather. Second, even if I were incredible, the other people here are on average not that great either. And then there are the places like that hill where I don't think even good skills will help much without traction devices, and maybe not even then.

Yep. Also, in Iowa, the roads tended to get cleared much faster. Here, we just don't have the equipment - they focus on freeways and major routes for public transportation and such, I think.

If you have to go out, you have to. But if not - why do it?? :)
