kyrielle: A very photoshopped stormy sky, dark blue sky with grey/black clouds swirling through (stormy sky)

Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] kfrye, a link to a video on the KGW (local news station) web site showing cars trying to drive on a steep hill during the storm. Trying being the operative word....

Attempting to drive that stretch of road: not real bright. Attempting it after the evidence of the first guys to do so was present: really not bright. The people standing around outside as it all happens: *whimper*.

I stay home when it's like this. First, I'm not that great at driving in messy weather. Second, even if I were incredible, the other people here are on average not that great either. And then there are the places like that hill where I don't think even good skills will help much without traction devices, and maybe not even then.

Well, today hurt. Very literally. I worked from home in the morning, and I was on a call for work when Babe started to try to go up some shelves she shouldn't. I tried to gesture her off, that didn't work, I moved to get off the stool...and blew it, and fell off the stool, onto the hardwood floor, trying to catch myself on the counter. I failed, but I may have eased the fall doing that; not sure. Nasty bruise on my knee; banged one fingertip good but it's not hurting now (just stung like a bear at the time), a couple more areas that feel like they may have bruises, and strained my lower back. The last worries me the most but it is not bad and the advice nurse agreed - ibuprofen and see how it does. Common wisdom often evolving from truth, I suspect I will be less comfy tomorrow, but as long as the only major injury is to my ego, I'll be happy.

I didn't take any photos today, and I think I'm going to let it slide this once, at this point. Scott and I did play WoW tonight, which was fun. We played little draenei characters. We'll go back to our mains soon, I think, but I wasn't wanting to play seriously, and a lot of what our main alts need have some time commitments involved, so...it worked. We had fun. I'm playing a shaman (go figure), but he is playing a hunter. Since everyone's playing a shaman. (Which is true, but I love shamans, so....)

I actually went in to the office for the afternoon today! The roads were, except for the one we live on, basically totally cleared in the driving lanes. (Ours was slushy.) Drive home was equally safe. If slightly dumb: I got off at the north Wilsonville exit and came right home. In spite of a bazillion attempts to remember, throughout the day, to go to the library and pick up the books on hold. Oh well. Tomorrow. If I want to read Terrier on Saturday evening, I had better stop there soon! :P Tomorrow they close early, so if I miss, I may have to swing by on Saturday. We'll see. I'm not sure what I'll be doing tomorrow yet - if work can spare me, I'd like to take a half-day off and run the errands that I couldn't run on Tuesday. If not, they'll have to wait until next week, most likely.

Meanwhile, the funny. From "The Daily WTF", a job requirement that needs a time machine.

That might be a little difficult.
